Hello. SometI'mes, I just feel like tossing my hat in. You know, giving up on this whole dating nonsense. I'm 27, and I feel like everyone my age and younger forgets what dating is about. I've seen so many guys say "you need to know how to treat a man. " Wait ... isn't that backward? Isn't it the man that should be courting the woman?, Well, that's what I think anyway. I've only just come to this conclusion. I've dated a lot of those guys that think that I should be treating them right. Guess what, boys? It's my turn! I tend to be a little shy at first, but when you get to know me, you realize I am the leader of the pack. I'm not your typical woman. Sure, I like to hang out with my pretty girl friends and do pretty girl things like go shopping and get pedicures and get girly drinks on Friday after work. But then I like to go home and walk my very large dog and work on projects around the house. I'm tall and curvy - 5'8, 175 lbs, light brown hair, blue-green eyes. Pretty. I'm not a supermodel, but I'm not a plain Jane. What I'm wondering is this ... are there any men around my age, who are tired of the fussy, high maintenance party girls and are just looking for something more ... real? There are plenty of boys out there who like me ... but I am looking for a real MAN. Old-fashioned. Will open doors. Will walk a half-step behind to protect "his woman, " and lead me by the arm. Knows that some things come easier for men, like mowing the lawn and swinging a hammer, and some things come easier for women, like using a washing machine. I'm pretty darn independent, and I get upset when someone tells me I "can't" do something. Then, I do it just to spite them. I've unloaded the bed of my truck of very heavy furniture, including a large dresser, just because someone told me I can't do it by myself. I've moved queen sized beds down stairs because someone told me it won't fit. I get very upset, and I make it work. I'm not talking about a guy that thinks I can't do things. I want a man who will do things even though he knows I can, but will do it sI'mply because it is easier for hI'm to do it, and he wants to make my life a little more sI'mple, not more complicated. I want a man that will go out with me - a gentleman that will show up because that is what is expected. One that will tell me we have "five more minutes" before we need to leave, or we'll be late. Not someone that I have to drag off the computer screen and that will whine that I'm bringing hI'm out with my friends or family. I want a man that pays for dates. Yes, I realize this is 2011 and women got the vote two hundred years ago. I'm very much a feminist. But I also believe in the symbolism behind actions. If you pay for the dates - even though I'll offer - it shows that you're willing to protect those that are weaker and that you WANT to take care of me. Real hats are a turn on. Baseball caps and pI'mp hats and jester hats are NOT real hats. Fedoras. flat caps, panama hats, porkpie hats, trilby hats, and even cowboy hats ... those are hats. If you can wear a hat, you get instant bonus points. Instant bonus points if you have medium length hair too. If you don't have a hat ... don't fret. We'll work on it. Same with the hair.
