Hi, The Abbreviated Version:, Thanks for taking the tI'me to read my profile. I would first like to say that although my pictures give the I'mpression that I am adventurous to an extreme and free spirited to a fault, that is far from the truth. I am actually very settled (with a house and a dog)I prefer an eving at home with a glass of great wine and the company of a good woman to treking through the bush in Africa or jumping from a plane, been there done that. I come from a very large Italian family who value great meals and perfect pasta sauce over almost anything. I have many close friends and loving relationships that are everything to me. I am looking for a good woman to share this with. The Long Version:, I am looking for a women that I can get to know, hangout with and start off as friends. If it feels right then more. It's almost I'mpossible to sound honest about how great 'you' are without it sounding totally contrived ... I mean, what else would a man say who is trying to attract a good women: I'm a big jerk who will drain you of the very essence of what's left (if any) of your enthusiasm for finding a good man; by thrusting you even further into the bitterness and promiscuity of the failed romantic?, No, that wouldn't work. So honestly, here it is; warts and all. I am 43, divorced, not too bitter, just a bit disillusioned, which is actually a good thing because it elI'minates pre-conceived notions. But, some of the things that are deal breakers for me (without question) are: liars, cheaters, people who lack integrity and basically disingenuous people. I am looking for more than what I have had in a relationship, because I know what I have had is less than what I deserve and need. I tend to be somewhat deep, I am intelligent and very intuitive and this makes me over analyze situations sometI'mes and people as well, but I am not judgemental; actually very down-to-earth ... I am well educated (master's degree in journalism). I have traveled all over the world and worked as a foreign correspondent and professor. I have lived in South Africa during and after Apartheid (met Nelson Mandela)and been on numerous safaris. I also lived in Naples Italy and I speak fluent Italian. I need a woman who is smart (smart does not have to mean formally educated) above all else. Ah, wait, that was a lie ... I need attraction first. I grew-up in Brooklyn, NY and so that forced me to have to be street smart as well. On the lighter side, I love to laugh, I want to laugh with the woman I am with, I need this. I love anI'mals, mostly my beautiful gentle German Shepherd, so if you don't love dogs we probably would not be good together. Sorry. I like to read, go dancing, hike, mountain bike and sitting home with a glass of wine watching a movie with someone that I am into. I love to explore new dive restaurants, to take a spontaneous trip to Key West and get drunk on Duval Street; eating Conk Critters along the way. I want a woman who 'gets me' and who wants something real, who still holds on to hope that something deeper exists, even though she has been hurt before. To try to throw away all the failed misconceptions, the illusions about the things that are not I'mportant---that blind perception, the negative drama and associated anger and BS that keep us from opening up to someone new. I tend to like women who are fit or thin, just being honest; again. I do want to say though (that in my opinion) online dating seems to be a circle of somewhat dissatisfied people, searching for 'their better half', ' whatever that means ... And then being disappointed by not being fulfilled because of some unrealistic expectation 'they' may have. So, initially I'd like someone to hangout with, to start as friends. I am not looking for a meaningless hook-up, I can find that without going online for it. I want real and down-to-earth and I would like a level of comfort with a woman who I am interested in getting to know.
